ABSTRACT
Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) are frequently reported by healthcare professionals, particularly dentists. Biomechanical factors such as prolonged static posture and repetitive movements during patient care are strongly suspected of triggering physical complaints over time. This study aims to determine the relationship between work duration—specifically daily working hours and length of service—and the risk levels of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) among dentists at RSKGM South Sumatra Province. This was an analytic, cross-sectional observational study. The study included 30 dentists registered at RSKGM South Sumatra Province, selected using a total sampling technique. We measured MSD risk levels using the Nordic Body Map questionnaire and statistically analyzed the data using Fisher's Exact Test. Most dentists had a low MSDs risk level (27 respondents, 90.0%), while 3 respondents (10.0%) reported a moderate risk level. Bivariate analysis demonstrated no significant relationship between daily working hours and MSDs risk levels (p = 0.464, p > 0.05). Similarly, no significant relationship was found between the length of service and MSDs risk levels (p = 0.963, p > 0.05). Length of work, both in terms of daily working hours and cumulative length of service, is not the primary determinant of MSD risk levels among dentists in RSKGM South Sumatra Province.
